Free Verse Friday, April 17th

 

  • Flocabulary Vocabulary – Dracula Junior.  All parts of this assignment are due today.
  • Must Do- Poetry Flip Book- This will be due Friday, it is assigned in Teams.  Complete a couple poems everyday so you won’t be overwhelmed Friday.  If you are confused about any of the poem types, scroll down to find examples.
  • Must Do- Diamante Poem in Teams
  • Poetry Cafe on Zoom at 1:00.  Look for an email with a link to a Zoom call for a poetry cafe.  This is where you get to share your poems.  You can come to read a poem or just to listen to other kids poems.

 

Thursday, April 16th

  1. Flocabulary Vocabulary – Dracula Junior.  Remember you have all week to complete the tasks that go with your vocabulary assignment.  No rush to work through and complete them all day. 
  2. Must Do- Poetry Flip Book- This will be due Friday, it is assigned in Teams.  Complete a couple poems everyday so you won’t be overwhelmed Friday. If you are confused about any of the poem types, scroll down to find examples. 
  3. Must Do- Elements of Poetry Practice
  4. Remember, if you plan on participating in the sports writing contest, you need to have it emailed to me by tomorrow!

Wonderful Wednesday, April 15th

Scroll down to find the magazine titles Can Kids Save The Planet?.  Here is a video in case you need help finding it!  After you read the article, complete the What A Waste! Close Read Questions.

Scroll down to find the magazine titled Can Kids Save The Planet?.  Here is a video in case you need help finding it!  After you read the article, complete the Protect Our Planet Close Read Questions  about the text

Would You Rather Wednesday, April 8th

  1. Flipgrid!- Would you rather Wednesday?  Follow the Flipgrid link to answer the question- Would you rather be able to talk to animals and have them understand you, but you can’t understand them, or would you rather be able to understand what animals say but they can’t understand you?
  2. Flocabulary Vocabulary– Make sure to be making progress on the Flocabulary Vocabulary- Kat and Mouse tasks for this week.
  3. Must Do- Nearpod- Complete the nearpod to review the different components of poetry.  The code is GPJAM.
  4. Must Do- Finish reading the last two pages in the Scholastic News Magazine titled Outbreak.  If you can’t remember how to find the correct magazine, watch this  video.  After you finish reading the magazine, complete the Quiz Whiz questions.

Pep Talk Tuesday, April 7th

  1. Watch the video from Kid President- respond in the comments of this blog with what you thought of the video.  
  2. Flocabulary Vocabulary– Make sure to be making progress on the Flocabulary Vocabulary- Kat and Mouse tasks for this week.  
  3. Must Do- Complete Flocabulary Poetry Assignment. 
  4. Must Do- Read She Grew Up to Fight for Women’s Rights from Scholastic News.  Follow the Scholastic News link.  Log in, the password is brokaw. Scroll down to find the magazine titled Outbreak.  Here is a video in case you need help finding it!  After you read the article, complete the Close Read Questions about the text.

Monster Monday, April 6th

STOP EVERYTHING!  Before you start watch this video!  I am going to be making daily videos explaining what your work for the day is.

  1. Monster Monday – Add a post to the padlet telling me who or what is your favorite movie monster, creature, or villain.  Make sure to include why!  
  2. Flocabulary Vocabulary– This week you will complete the next vocabulary assignment in Flocabulary.  Sign in with the account you made last week and click on assignments. You will watch and complete the 5 different tasks for the video titled Kat and Mouse.  If you would like to complete all 5 tasks that go along with the video in one day, go for it, but I recommend you do one task a day to not get overwhelmed.  
  3. Must Do- This week we will spend time working on poetry.  Complete this Quizizz to show me what you already know about poetry.  Follow the link or go to joinmyquiz.com and the code is 665758. 
  4. Must Do- Read 5 Big Questions About Coronavirus from Scholastic News.  Click the link to go directly to the article.  After you read the article, complete the Close Read Questions about the text.

Finally Friday, April 3rd

  1. Flocabulary Vocabulary Practice- Everyday you will spend some time on Flocabulary practicing vocabulary words.  Today, follow this link to get into Flocabulary.  If you have not signed into Flocabulary before find the blog post from Monday and follow those instructions.  In Flocabulary you have five tasks to complete and a video to watch by Friday.  I recommend you watch the video everyday and complete one task. Today you should have all the tasks completed.
  2. Must Do- Interesting Dinosaurs and FossilsWriting- Your writing is due today in teams. Click here to log in to teams. Make sure to revise/edit your draft before you turn it in.  If teams is not working for you.  Feel free to type it and email it to me or hand write it, take pictures, and then email it to me.  
  3.  Must Do- Reading Test- husd.org, ela curriculum k-5, things to do, hmh one assessment then complete Lesson 21 test.
